northerngroup were delighted to witness the first section of structural steel being erected this week at Flint Glass Wharf, a luxury apartment development in Ancoats Village; marking significant progress and providing a first glimpse of the vertical footprint of the striking canal-side scheme.

 Flint Glass Wharf will comprise 136 apartments and penthouses, ranging from 450 sq feet to just under 1800 sq feet and will offer residents luxury canal side living with secure under ground parking and the latest in contemporary styling. There will also be a small number of commercial / retail units to the ground floor.

With an original design concept by Stephenson Bell, the scheme has been taken forward by Falconer Chester Architects and is being built by Linford Group with scheduled completion in Summer 2008.

northerngroup’s Director Nathan Ezair said “Works on the site have been well underway since October but the erection of steelwork will make a significant visual difference to landscape over the next few months, it is rewarding to see all the hard work put into action”.

Sales of the apartments off-plan have been brisk with only 6 apartments now remaining at Flint Glass Wharf. northerngroup are also shortly to be embarking on the build of their second residential scheme in Ancoats, which will involve restoration of the historic listed ‘Ice Plant’ building on Blossom Street, providing 82 contemporary living spaces. The first phase has recently been released with 19 apartments remaining for sale.
